A Muslim Caliphate Comes To America - The Perils Of Diversity

The French - that is the native-born, old French - have always said that France is the eldest daughter of the Catholic Church, the nation that saved Christianity from Islamic barbarism and the Saracens invading from North Africa. Without the heroism of Charlemagne and his Christian armies, France might well be Muslim. 

Charlemagne in saving Europe from the Saracen invaders enabled France to become the shining light of Europe, to promote high culture, science, enlightened philosophy, and to spread Christianity throughout the world. 

The defeat of the Muslim invaders was not simply an important military battle or principled defense of nationhood, but the most significant event in Europe's history.

It is within this historical context that France, assaulted once again by radical Islam, is looking for another Charlemagne, but none are to be had.  It is too late.  The proportion of Muslims in France (nearing 10 percent) is the highest in Western Europe and projections indicate a continued rise in this number even if immigration is controlled. 

France was under the illusion that once a person becomes French, he willingly loses every identity but the French one.  He becomes an automatic member of the republic and is never questioned for his patriotism.  Being French is transformative.  

Of course that magnificent fantasy was nothing but idle dreaming; and in welcoming tens of thousands from its former African colonies and assuming their automatic integration, France created the massive Muslim, black ghettoes of the northern Parisian suburbs, turned Marseille into a rabidly Islamic city, and suffered the consequences of its social myopia. 

Other countries like Sweden also have exceedingly high proportions of radicalized Muslims but arrived at his situation differently. Influenced by the wave of diversity, equity, and inclusion making its way from America, always supportive of African nations against colonialism, and backer of authoritarian socialist regimes there, Sweden welcomed the diaspora and now is a socially and politically unstable country. 

France and Sweden are not alone as resentment against immigration has enabled the rise of the conservative Right throughout Europe.  Giorgia Meloni, President of Italy has made it clear - the West is not so much a geographical region but a culture, a Christian civilization, and the birthplace of enlightenment, freedom, and prosperity. We will not submit to Islamization, she says, echoing her counterparts in France, Poland, Hungary, the UK, and the Netherlands. 

American citizens have been shocked by the display of Islamic radicalism in the United States, a rabid, hysterical support for the Palestinians and a visceral hatred of the Jews.  While there is no danger of the Muslim inundation that is occurring in Europe, Americans see the inchoate championing of a terrorist, caliphate-minded, aggressive geopolitical force as dismaying.

The diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) movement has not been the benign multicultural idyll the Left has proposed, but an authoritarian, revisionist movement - an anti-Christian, secular, socialist, anti-Western one.  While the mob violence on college campuses in the name of Palestinian solidarity, is but a nasty whiff of European Muslim excess, it is a sign of the further erosion of polity, a universal ethos which has been the signifying feature of all great civilizations.  No county can survive without it, and an America awash in an ill-defined, irrational, social chaos must right the course before it is too late. 

Progressive revisionists have deliberately delinked current day America from its European past, branded in a single issue swipe as predatory, colonialist, racist, and monarchist.  No recognition of the greatness of European civilization, the influence of Christianity, or the civilizing mission of empire is made.  America according to the Left is at Pol Pot's Year Zero. 

Pol Pot, one of history's most murderous, brutal, and uncompromising dictators responsible for the death of millions of Cambodians, reduced his country to a wasteland with intentions to rebuild it as a Maoist nation. Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, all religions were dismissed as inimical to the state and banned.  No cultural tradition had value.  It was a new beginning and a nightmare. 

The new conservative administration in Washington has understood this and has vowed to return the country to its originalist, Jeffersonian principles.  It would again be a proudly Christian nation, one of individual liberty and patriotism.  No one would be made to feel ashamed for being white or Christian.  On the contrary Americans would once again be proud of their history, their origins, and their cultural importance. 

There are two principal axes to this return.  The first is a closure of America's borders.  Although earlier in its history immigrants had quickly and willingly assimilated into the mainstream of American culture, the insidious identity culture of the Left has encouraged cultural separatism.  Illegal immigrants from cultures far different from that of the United States and prompted to remain foreign can only delay the reestablishment of a cultural ethos, 

Second is a rollback of woke - the equally insidious, dangerous movement to lionize every racial and ethnic group but white, to denigrate maleness, family, and traditional sexual orientation, and to submit to a radical reformist ideology. Wokeness more than anything is the most destabilizing factor in progressivism. 

Despite the Islamic cacophony on American campuses, the country is not Europe, invaded by radical Africans and Middle Eastern religious zealots; but the disruption and danger is the same - a derogation of its core principles, a denial of its storied history, and a neglect of its Christian, capitalist promise. This must and will change.
